AVG is a good anti-virus software but it is not great. However since AVG is free you have nothing to lose. I personally think Avast is a better choice for free anti-virus software.

I think you should try both of them and see which one you like the best. Just make sure to uninstall your current anti-virus program before installing another. You should never have 2 anti-virus programs installed at the same time.

As of April 2008 they have chosen to turn AVG antivirus into a VIRUS itself with the addition of a "feature" which randomly fires up your PC's web browser WITHOUT WARNING AND WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION taking you to AVG's website to ADVERTISE for their version 8 product suite. AVOID THIS PROGRAM!!! Report It

Loads of people love AVG and I'm sure you'll find many reviews from computer magazines which will tell you how wonderful it is.

You can check out av programs via the 'Comparatives' link here: http://www.av-comparatives.org

Memory footprint for internet security versus antivirus.?

Does internet security software occupy alot more space than simply antivirus software?

Memory footprint for internet security versus antivirus.?auto protect

it depends on which one ur talking about ... i would guess yes because a security suite has more things running ..

Memory footprint for internet security versus antivirus.?downloads

It will take up more. Memory usage does vary greatly from vendor to vendor, but id say you'd be looking at up to double as a rough rule of thumb.

You weigh that up against the added security of firewall, and whatever other security features the suite offers (phising, spyware, adware etc)
Simple put yes, because you have more functionality of an entire security suite vs. just an antivirus program therefore it will consume more resources. However, depending on the particular antivirus program it will have varying degrees of memory usage depending on the vendor.
Yes, Internet Security suites use more memory due to them covering firewall, antispyware and antivirus duties, some even cover more than this
"Obviously" comes to mind.

...ie, obviously programs can vary in the amount of harddrive space they occupy and in the amount of ram they require to run... which would be two distinct and separate things.

In any event, they certainly require far less resources than the malware that will infect you.

Good Luck

Mulitple virus software?

Is it safe to have one antivirus software running in the background and the others don't. Like having more than one antivirus installed and setting up one to run at system startup and the other don't run at system startup.

Mulitple virus software?avast

No you cannot have two antiviruses downloaded

I think use one at a time. You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at

http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html
You install any number of progrms. But you can enable only one at a time. Others should be disabled. There are a number of antivirus and anti spyware in the market. Some are free and some are to be purchased. Please visit the following site and select a suitable free antivirus.

Generally, antivirus programs just don't play well together when installed on the same computer.
Absolutely not. You can not have 2 anti-virus programs installed at the same time.

I have Norton Internet Security 2006 (antivirus) in my computer. Can I use this for 3 years?

The instruction says that I can use it for one year in three computers. I need clarification in this regard. 1. Can I use this software in single computer for three years? 2. In case of one year, can I use this in three different computers those are situated in different places? 3. If I happen to reinstall my computer, I have to reinstall this Antivirus software too. In that case will it take as a second computer?

What you have is a EULA for up to 3 computers. You can use it for 3 years in one computer, but after 1 year you will no longer be eligible for updates or upgrades. If you have to reformat your hard drive, you will have to reinstall the software. When you re-register it, if you use the same email address it will pick up on that. If you use a different email address, more than likely it will be treated as a new install and will allow you one year of upgrades and updates. Hope this helps.

Good Luck!

Anti virus software?? Cannot find??

I have just upgraded my antivirus software (mcafee total plus), and when installing, it is telling me that i need to remove/uninstall 'ca etrust antivirus' otherwise i won't be able to have spam protection, anti virus or privacy. I cannot find this anywhere on my laptop (not in add/remove programs).

Does anyone know where this could be and how I can remove it?

option could be to follow this

"The usual way of doing this is to reinstall the program and then

uninstall it again.

If that doesn't work Look in C:\Windows for a file named UnVet32.exe,

if it's still there it means that EZAV didn't uninstall correctly.

If UnVet32.exe is still in C:\Windows you'll need to boot into Safe

Mode, and then click:

1. Start-%26gt;Run-%26gt;and type in: unvet32.exe

Pay attention to what the uninstaller displays, if it can't remove

something you'll have to delete it manually.

2. Depending upon how badly the uninstaller failed after you've ran it

you "may" need to manually delete the following:

* C:\Windows\AVShlExt.dll

* C:\Windows\System32\ISafeIf.dll

* C:\Windows\System32\iSafProd.dll

* C:\Windows\System32\VetRedir.dll

I believe the best package for Vista is the Trend Micro Pro suite or in the very least their combo antivirus/antispyware package. The pro suite adds the firewall. I am using it right now on a brand new Vista Home Premium notebook.

You can also look over Webroot suite with Spysweeper, Sophos antivirus (VB100 winner) and firewall. Webroot is a smacking $40 US. The firewall gets a little slammed..... look around for more reviews on it.

Is "XP Antivirus" really a virus protector from Microsoft or is this a scam?

I was looking around on the internet and I went to a site for a lowrider and this thing popped up saying it was this XP Antivirus software and that I had a lot of viruses on my CPU. Is this a real genuine program and if not, how do I delete it? I already downloaded another virus protector on purpose called "avast!" Is this one good?
