How can i uninstall symantec antivirus 2004 even if the msi file is missing?

i cant uninstall the older version of the anti virus.. and i dont understand what file it is searching for.. the installer is not already with me, i have just got these pc with these not updated anti virus and i want to install a newer version, or other antivirus software..

go to start,search,in the files slot check,the top slot enter norton and then search.....after search complete..delete..if it says cant delete try delete each box in turn ..leave the ones that wont go if any and empty recycle bin and search again..delete...........also do this search with the word SYMANTEC doing the same as before........i always use this to clear comp of yahoo when i get a new messenger

if your buying a new anti virus why not get norton internet security which has everything that interact for full protection
The previous answer doesn't always work,short of getting ahold of Norton,good luck with that,I've never found a proper way(seen this issue many times) I'm sure some will object but I manully delete the file from Program files ,run msconfig and stop any norton (symantec processes, and run a good registry cleaner. This proplem is the exact reason I no longer recommend Norton or McAfee, good luck
