Which software is better?

Which antivirus software is better? Norton or McAfee? Is there any other software that works well too?

Which software is better?computer security

there are other antivirus which is better than norton or mcafee, both antivirus needs to be update everyday if you want to keep your computer clean from virus, you can choose either avast(free) or karpesky(expensive), avast is better than avg free edition ( i have test it with many of my virus collection and compare it) , you can download it from www.avast.com or you can contact me and i will send you the antivirus , good luck

Which software is better?free spyware remobal

i would go with AVG just because it is free and does just as good of a job as the two you have - but if i had to choose between those two it would have to be mcafee because norton will slow down your computer more. If AVG is not enough (for most people that is more then enough) then you can also get zone alarm (free) which will basically just put another wall between you and the ouside world but with the added bonus of asking you everytime if it should launch a program.

final words - go with avg free edition
I had Norton software removed from my computer as I could not receive forwards, emails, attachments, or anything to speak of that were safe and was able to receive before installing Norton. AVG is the best free software. The security programs that come free with AT%26T internet high speed are excellent also.
The advice by "Common Sense" is solid and accurate. Pay no attention to the dicksmack that said you don't need an anti-virus if you have a router. He doesn't know what he is talking about.
absolutely norton..
Symantec's Norton Anti-Virus does in fact have a high detection rate for viruses and other malware. However, the age old problem with Norton's commercial offering is that it has a bloated, cartoonish interface and thus uses a lot of resources. On the other hand, Symantec's Corporate version of their anti-virus and firewall are an entirely different story. It provides a no-nonsense interface and is much lighter on resource usage.

A good free anti-virus that will offer you the same protection, if not better, is Kaspersky Anti-Virus, which is distributed for free under the name "Active Virus Shield". It has a very high detection rate, a good interface and is light on resources. You can obtain it at www.activevirusshield.com

Avoid AVG and Avast as in numerous competent independent comparative reviews, both AVG and Avast have scored a dismal rating when it comes to virus/malware detection rates.
Both are equal!

But if you have a router you will not need any anti-virus! %26lt;wink%26gt;
