If your Internet provider provides anti virus, do you still need to install an anti virus software t

I have a new laptop and my mom says that Cox internet provides antivirus with its service, so you don't need to install an antivirus software directly on your computer. Is she right, or should I install one, just to have more security?

Any anti-virus software must be installed on the computer.

Cox may indeed provide a free anti-virus or other security package for their customers, but it would still be necessary to download and install it on each individual computer.

Always install one anti-virus...never install two!

NEVER trust anyone else with your computer security, no matter who it is.

I work for an ISP and although people believe we offer full AV protection the only protection we offer is email scanning. It never fails to shock people when they find out we don't offer any general internet protection. Get AVG, it's free and an excellent program.
She probably means you ISP offers a virus protection package to its users for free. You should be able to download it from your ISP's website. I know road runner and HTC offer this for their customers. Yes you always want an anti-virus on your computer.
actually i dont care if my ISP provide my a free AV but what i care about is ( is this AV is efficiant againest the new viruses or not ?) so which is protect your PC is the best AV even if you will pay money , but dont try to put AV on the same PC , i dont think its a good idea
