i would like to get any sort of information about this.
Can anybody tell me how antivirus softwares find out viruses in the computer using what kind of technique?nortin
i agree with the above two answers the thing is the part of the string stored as said by the second answer is called the virus signatures.the virus signatures are stored in a database by the antivirus software.this signature stored in database is used to compare with the one in the file if a file is infected with virus then we get the message it is affected.but selecting the signature for a virus is the typical job done by the antivirus programmers.due to the backlog that when a new virus attacks our system the database will not contains any part of the string relating to the virus in the database maintained by the antivirus so,our system will get affected.so it is generally advised to get our antivirus signature list to get updated what if the antivirus doesnt have the signature for a particular virus? then we need to pay for that .... okay thats it
it is really a good question of importance
bye and take care
Can anybody tell me how antivirus softwares find out viruses in the computer using what kind of technique?pc security
This is pure conjecture on my part, but i believe, that each file is scanned into a string, or array, then is compared to the library of known virus's, its a very simple process i believe, if you can make your scan engine remove any part of the file that isn't important ie: programmer comments, or normal non-calling code, it only leaves a small portion to be scanned. hope this starts you on your search

They have information about the signatures and about the behavior of the viruses, most of them stop any "virus like" activity. Every antivirus must be updated frequently in order to get the latest virus signatures.
