I know antivirus/spyware scanners can detect keylogger software on your PC, but what about software that is designed just for key logger software. I found a anti keylogger that detects known and unkown key loggers. Is this a good Idea to have something like this on my PC?

just use anti-spyware software
it will look for keyloggers and you do not have to worry about downloading some dodgy program.

Yes, it is a good idea to have anti-keylogger software. In fact, it is not a good idea to have a key logger at all, since other people can peek into the logs. For software relying on logged keys to work, it is not a good piece of software.
I would only suggest the well-known spyware detection companies. I'd be wary of anything some programmer has posted that just checks for keyloggers.
Here is a great site that has collected antivirus and spy ware detection programs: http://www.cleansoftware.org
