I am going to be geting rid of my pc and am gonna get a laptop

however what software do u use 2 wipe the hard drive clean

an can any1 tel me any softwares for antivirus aswell as a firewall

If you want to 'wipe' a hard drive, all you have to do is to reformat it by inserting your Windows installl disc and then restarting your PC. Press any key to boot from the disc and it will give you options to reinstall windows (overwriting any personal data in the process).

or reformat your hard drive (deletes everything).

A good antivirus to use is either:

Avast! (Free) http://www.avast.com/

Kaspersky ($70)

Firewalls aren't needed since windows is equipped with one already. It is not advisable to use one unless you really know what you are permitting to go past the firewall (i.e. if you know what you are doing).

THERE ARE SOME TECHNIQUES WHICH CAN ALLOW TO RECOVER DATA FROM HARDDISK FROM UPTO 7 LAYERS..

SO ITS BETTER THAT U FORMAT UR OLD HARDDISK AT LOW LEVEL ATLEAST 8 TIMES,.

u dont need third party software..

u can format it with windows bootable cd..

i would prefer windows 98 boot cd..

and format it at low level..

and format atleast 8 times (prefer 11times)
u can format to clean, with the respective parameter switch.
